October marks an exciting month in Israel, as the holidays
arrive it always brings with it an abundance of activities
and a variety of festivals. Here are a few highlights
of what’s going on around Israel this month.
The Abu Gosh Vocal Music Festival
The 30th Abu Gosh Vocal Music Festival will take
place this year from October 11-14. Four days complete
with a wide and rich repertoire of vocal music, the
festival features around 700 musicians –choirs,
soloists, orchestras and ensembles. The concerts will
take place in lovely historic churches with the best
acoustics in Israel. This year’s special guest
is the celebrated Italian singer Miriam Meghnagy,
who will take part in a program featuring works by
Bach, Handel, Gabrieli and Jewish folk songs and prayers
from Italy and Libya. Abu Gosh is conveniently located

Acco Festival of Alternative
Israeli Theater
For the past 25 years Acco has been host to the
Festival of Alternative Israeli Theatre, which will
take place this year from October 8-11. The festival
has evolved over the years and incorporates much of
Acco’s unique character into the nature of the
events. The truly unique performances will take place
in Acco’s theaters and outside on the cities
streets. The festival includes guest productions from
abroad, workshops throughout the city, and an array

Uri Buri Restaurant
This innovative seafood restaurant, situated in
the Lighthouse Square in Acco’s Old City, is
arguably the best restaurant in Acco. Although it’s
expensive, Uri Buri is definitely worthwhile, for
its fresh Mediterranean style food made with lots
of imagination, its talented well-known chef, and
the charming design of its building. Overall dining
at Uri Buri will provide you with a unique and pleasant

Haifa Film Festival
