Filmmakers looking for imagery that reflects the complex Palestinian - Israeli conflict might consider filming the Security Fence (the official name given by Ministry of Defense). This barrier, that somewhat runs along the border of the West Bank, is extremely controversial and has caused a great deal of protests from Palestinians and Israelis alike. The Israeli government argues that the fence’s sole purpose is to protect its citizens from incursions by Palestinian terrorists, and Palestinians argue that the barrier is splitting up villages and fields and is an attempt to create a future permanent border. Along most of the route the barrier consists of a wire fence, and in more populated areas, a concrete wall is in place. The wall segments are obviously more striking and make a greater visual impact.
