| Rachel, Jacob’s
second and favorite wife, is the only ancestral figure not
buried in Hebron. The bible explains that Rachel died giving
birth to Benjamin, on the road near Bethlehem, south of
Jerusalem. Over the centuries, Rachel’s Tomb has become
a magnet for pilgrims of the region’s three monotheistic
religions. Women, especially Jewish women, come here to
Rachel’s white-domed tomb to pray for fertility and
for the healthy birth of their children. The building, located
inside Bethlehem, is easy to reach from Jerusalem and is
a unique biblical-themed location.
