| The view from
the Mount of Olives is considered to be one of the most
impressive in Israel, and perhaps in the entire world. The
mountain, which gained its named from the olive trees found
on its sides, holds historical and religious significance
to Judaism and Christianity. The mountain is important to
Judaism in relation to the prophecy of the end of days found
in the book of Zechariah. An extremely old Jewish cemetery
is located on the mountain where many pious and famous figures
are buried.
According to Christian tradition Jesus spent part of the
last week of his life on the mountain. It is believed that
from the mountain he entered Jerusalem for the last supper,
he wept for the destruction of Jerusalem, he was kept there
before his crucifixion, and he ascended to heaven and is
supposed to return on the mountain.
Biblical Productions organized many shoots on the Mount
of Olives and whether it is at sunrise or sunset, this location
is a must for shooting in Jerusalem. The view of the Old
City when the sun goes down is breathtaking. When the clouds
turn shades of red and purple from the sun the city looks
absolutely magnificent, making this location definitely
worthwhile.
