Filming in Kfar Cana

Kfar Cana, a location important to the history of the ancient Galilee, is an Arab village north of Nazareth. According to the gospel John, “Cana in Galilee” is where Jesus turned water into wine at a wedding ceremony (John 2:11). There are two churches in Kfar Cana commemorating Jesus’ first miracle. The main interest for filming in this peaceful village is these two churches. The main church is the Franciscan Wedding Church, a small church with a courtyard. In the nave there is a fragment of a Byzantine mosaic from the 5th or 6th century. The second church is the Greek Orthodox Church built in 1556 on the site of an earlier mosque. You need to arrange permission in advance to film at both churches. The village consists of narrow alleyways and is not easily accessible by car, therefore it is suggested to walk with your equipment.
