| Located in Kibbutz
Tzuba, around a 20 minute drive from Jerusalem, is the Cave
of John the Baptist – a cave believed to have once
been used by John the Baptist for baptism rituals. The cave
contains archeological references to John the Baptist, including
images depicting his life. Additionally, during the 4th
and 5th centuries CE, the cave was used by Byzantine monks
as a holy place dedicated to John the Baptist.
British archeologist, Shimon Gibson, discovered the cave
in 1999 and wrote a book about his discovery called, “The
Cave of John the Baptist: The Stunning Archaeological Discovery
that has Redefined Christian History.”
The cave is situated in a pastoral location near the town
of Ein Karem, which is the traditional birthplace of John
the Baptist. We recommend filming at the cave because of
the interesting archeological finds and its significance
to the understanding of the roots of Christianity and the
life of John the Baptist.
